Light It Up
Join WIFN on October 17 for Light It Up! For NDEAM, an event dedicated to raising awareness about National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This initiative highlights the importance of creating inclusive workplaces for people with disabilities. We’re calling on businesses and community members across Walpole Island to illuminate their homes, offices, and public spaces in purple to show their support for disability inclusion! Help us make Walpole Island glow purple.
Wave of Light
Join us for a heartfelt event, the "Wave of Light", a candlelight vigil to remember and honour pregnancy and infant loss. This global event takes place simultaneously on October 15 at 7pm all over the world, creating a beautiful wave of light that spans across different time zones and continents. We will be meeting at 150 Tecumseh road in the BBK playground for 6:45pm. Candles will be lit for babies we have loss through miscarriage, stillbirth, medical termination and infant death. Ceremony will end at 7:15pm, however, everyone is welcome to stay and watch the candles, or leave a message to their babies.
Entrepreneur Showcase
On October 12 join Employment and Training at their monthly showcase to support our local community and witness the talent in and around Walpole Island. Start at 9am until 12pm at the Walpole Island Arena (Back Hall). Shop Indigenous business. Free booth space available. Second Saturday of each month.
Apple Picking
WIFN Seniors 55 yrs+. Each Senior will receive a bag to pick apples courtesy of HCCP while supplies last. You are welcome to bring a helper or your family to enjoy picking with you.
Mijim Box
BBK Families can earn a ballot each visit to BBK for programming and or any other services that BBK offers from October 1-10, 2024. You can win an entire thanksgiving dinner just by coming out to programming or utilizing the services offered at BBK. The Draw will be October 10 @ BBK’s Thanks Giving Dinner. BBK offers programming and services to families with children between 0-6 years of age.
